What I Love About London

How do I describe my love for London in just one blog post? In my opinion, it’s the finest city in the world.

In short, I love London.

It’s a city full of culture, diversity, 1919395_182314901717_679237_nhistory, and beauty. It’s a place where one can spend an entire day traversing on foot and only scratch the surface of the wonders the city has to behold. It is a regal city, a city of the arts, a vibrant world capital. If I could live in any city in the world, it would be London.

The first time I visited London, I fell in love with it. The second time? I never wanted to leave. One could spend a lifetime exploring London and still not get enough.

London is the kind of city that gets under your skin. There is something about it that is so 1919395_182314926717_6535992_nfamiliar and comfortable, and yet so exciting and new all at once. It is a city that has something for everyone. It has iconic cultural sights, awesome food, amazing live theater, world class shopping, beautiful parks, and delightful people.

London is one of the most diverse cities on the planet, meaning that a visit to London can expose you to an incredible array of cultures, languages, and of course, cuisine. The food culture there is ridiculously good, from the fancy restaurants all the way down to the street markets, and the food is getting better and better all the time. Of course, English classics like fish and chips, jacket potatoes, and steak and ale pie are also pretty delicious. London has it all.

The Tube is an awesome public transit system. It’s a marvel of engineering that can take you anywhere in the city you want to go. 1919395_182314956717_4903124_n

Then there are the parks. London is an incredibly beautiful city with so much green space. You’re never too far from an amazing park when you’re in London. There’s Hyde Park, Regent’s Park, Richmond Park, Victoria Park, Greenwich Park, Hampstead Heath, Clapham Common,  Battersea Park, Kensington Gardens, Bushy Park, Crystal Palace Park, and St. James Park, which is my personal favorite.

To walk along the Thames is a wonderful experience where you can really take in the beauty of the city.

London is a city that is always growing and changing, so there is something new to experience all the time. It’s a vibrant, growing city, and yet it seamlessly retains all of it’s beautiful historical architecture and character at the same time as being new and exciting.  1919395_182315031717_8047446_n

London is a city of world class museums. There’s the London Museum, the Tate, the Tate Modern, the British Museum, the National Gallery, the National Maritime Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Design Museum, and so many more I couldn’t possibly list them all. If it’s history you’re looking for, London is your city. If you’re an art lover, London is the place for you. Whatever it is that you want to learn about, London has an incredible museum for you.

Don’t forget to stop into one of the many pubs in the city. There is something about a British pub that is not only so quintessentially British, but also so comfortable and familiar at the same time. The classic pub food isn’t healthy, but it is, quite frankly, delicious.

If you haven’t yet been to London, it should be at the top of your list. This amazing city will always have a special place in my heart and I plan on visiting there as many times as I am able to in my life.
