Pura Vida

Perhaps you’ve heard the phrase ‘Pura Vida’ before. In Spanish, it means “pure life”, and is a phrase which predominately comes from the gorgeous little country of Costa Rica. What it means is that life is great and you should enjoy it.

What an awesome mantra to live your life by! It’s more than a mantra, really though. It is a whole philosophy which encourages people to live in the moment and to appreciate the simple treasures in life. It means to slow down and take your time. It means that you should celebrate the things you have and to consider yourself fortunate for those things. It means not to take anything in life for granted, but instead to savor a beautiful, peaceful, laid back lifestyle. To really live “pura vida”, you must live your life to the fullest.

This is something I strive to live my life by. I may not always call it “Pura Vida”, but I have always made an effort to live my life to the fullest and to enjoy all the moments I have. To get off of the couch and instead go outside into the world and explore and discover new things. I may not always be successful at living in this way. I often get stressed or caught up in life’s moments and sometimes I have to remind myself to slow down and enjoy the moments I have to enjoy.

It’s something we could all do with a reminder of from time to time.
