Today is officially the first day of summer for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere (I’m sorry, Southern Hemisphere people). To celebrate, I’m making summer travel plans!
I’ll definitely be visiting the Pacific Northwest for 10 days this August, with possible trips to the local mountains as well. I’m pricing out a long weekend in Cabo San Lucas, and considering a weekend on Catalina Island. There will certainly be trips to Los Angeles and Las Vegas thrown in there, and quite possibly a weekend in Ensenada, Mexico as well. I might even plan a camping weekend or two. What are your summer travel plans?
If you don’t have any summer travel plans lined up yet, what are you waiting for? The days are long and adventure calls your name. No excuses!

If you’re unsure of where to go…
I’ve often heard people say they want to travel but they aren’t sure where to go or where to begin. It’s really simple, however. It all starts with an idea. Think of where you want to go and then figure out what you need to do in order to go there.
If that’s not feasible for plans for this summer, however (on account of the shorter notice), figure out what your time restraints and budget are, and then plan something within that. It can be as simple as a long weekend somewhere fairly local, if that’s all you can do. My plans for this summer certainly include a lot of destinations easily accessible within a weekend from Southern California. Where do you live? I bet there is something pretty great within a five hour drive. Go there!
The important thing is to enjoy life and to make this summer a great one.
