Africa has been on my mind a lot lately, as I think about places I would like to visit in my quest to see as much of the world as possible. I haven’t yet been anywhere on the African continent, and frankly, that’s a shame. One place I would definitely like to visit someday is the beautiful African country of Tanzania, and the focus of this week’s Wanderlust Wednesday.
Tanzania is an absolutely gorgeous country and home to some of Africa’s most iconic sights and experiences. It is home to the Serengeti National Park, where visitors can experience one of the greatest wildlife viewing destinations on Earth.
It is also home to Zanzibar’s Stone Town, where you can immerse yourself in rich cultural heritage.
There is also the Ngorongoro Crater, which is among the largest unbroken calderas in the world that has not been formed into a lake. It is a place of fantastic natural beauty with amazing opportunities to view exotic African wildlife.
Who can forget the iconic Mt Kilimanjaro National Park, which is one of Tanzania’s most visited sites, and for good reason!
If surf and sand are more your thing, how about a visit to Pemba where you can bathe and snorkel in crystal clear, teal waters and explore majestic coral reefs?
There are so many gorgeous national parks, waterfalls, cultural sites, mountain ranges and game reserves that I honestly can’t list them all in one blog post, but needless to say, those of us who have not yet visited Tanzania are surely missing out on something special. It’s on my travel wishlist.
Have you ever been to Tanzania? What do you recommend for travelers visiting for the first time? Do you have any favorite experiences there?
