Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

That’s me with the famous arch in Cabo

At the tip of the Baja California peninsula in Mexico is a beautiful place known as Cabo San Lucas. For those of us lucky enough to live in California, it’s quite a short and often inexpensive flight to find ourselves in a gorgeous Mexican beach town, sipping on margaritas and enjoying tacos in the sunshine. Cabo often gets overlooked when compared to some of the other Mexican resort towns to the East, such as Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, and Cozumel. Those places are fabulously incredible, no doubt, and any traveler should go to see them in their lifetime if they are able.

That being said, there is something about Cabo San Lucas that makes it, in my opinion, on par with those cities to the East in many ways. Sure, there are no Mayan Ruins and the landscape is desert rather than jungle. However, the water in Cabo San Lucas is a really pleasantly warm temperature and there is world class sport fishing to boot.

The nightlife in the downtown area is certainly hopping, with places like Cabo Wabo, El Squid Roe, and The Giggling Marlin. There is also the Buccaneer Queen, which is a pirate ship/booze cruise where you’ll not only have an amazing time dancing and sipping on cocktails with a bunch of pirates on a ship, but you’ll also catch some great views of the Cabo coastline and bay.

If you’re looking for more adventure, there’s sea
kayaking, whale watching, reef snorkeling, zip lining, and a truly world class dining scene. You won’t run out of things to do.

Cabo San Lucas is, in many ways, a more upscale experience than many other destinations in Mexico, but don’t let that stop you if you’re not rich (I’m not rich). It has something for all budgets and travel styles.

Now that I’m thinking about Cabo San Lucas, it seems it’s time to look into booking my next trip down there!
