In 2007, I traveled to Italy on my honeymoon. Our first stop was Venice, and it was every bit as incredible as I had imagined it would be.
Our second stop on the grand Italian tour was Florence.
Usually we travel on a budget and stay in some often questionable hotel rooms (I’ll have to write sometime about the hostel in London, but that’s a story for another day). This time, however, we were on our honeymoon and my husband’s family had gifted us our hotel room in Florence…and what a hotel room it was!
We were set up in an incredible room inside a converted palazzo right next to the Ponte Vecchio. It came with an incredible private courtyard entryway and the room was incredibly luxurious with high ceilings, chandelier, and all the comforts of home including a small kitchen. I was in heaven.
The city itself was beautiful and exciting to explore on foot all day long. There are incredible sculptures all over the city to view, and it’s just a beautiful city of art and culture.
The cathedral is incredibly beautiful and covered in gorgeous terra cotta tiles with an iconic red dome. We spent a day exploring the Boboli Gardens, which were incredible. And of course, the food was amazing. Really this is just an incredible city that needs to be seen to be believed. I hope to go back someday.
