If you’re looking for a great place to go camping for the weekend in the San Diego area, look no further than the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. I had a chance to camp there for the weekend with some friends and it was an awesome place. Not only was it a nicely maintained campground that had actual flushing toilets and hot showers (which isn’t always guaranteed when it comes to camping), but the campground is situated right next to a truly beautiful area, so it makes for an awesome place to set off for a hike where you can see some waterfalls. Each campsite comes with a fire pit and a picnic table, so you’ll be able to eat meals comfortably and enjoy roasting marshmallows over an open fire at night. I highly recommend this place for a weekend out of the city (it only took us about an hour to get there from North County Coastal San Diego and would be even closer to people who live in the downtown area).
