8 Incredible Trips to Take in Your Lifetime

There are so many amazing places on this beautiful planet of ours that it would be impossible for one person to see them all, but don’t despair…the quest to see as many as possible is what makes life fun! If you’re looking for somewhere incredible to go on your next journey, why not try out one of these absolutely awesome places?

***Special thanks to the following Instagrammers for taking these incredible photos.***

Marrakech, Morocco

Morocco is somewhere that I have always wanted to visit. This former imperial city located in western Morocco is an amazing place to visit. While visiting, you can visit gorgeous mosques, beautiful gardens, historical palaces, and so much more. The city is also a thriving major economic center. You can spend a day strolling through the densely packed Medina, a walled medieval city that dates all the way back to the Berber Empire. Get lost in the alleys and browse the marketplaces where you can buy jewelry, textiles, pottery, and other handicrafts.

Machu Picchu, Peru

This iconic place is somewhere that should be on everybody’s list. I mean…just look at it. That being said, it’s a popular destination for a good reason. This gorgeous Incan citadel is located high up in the Peruvian Andes. It was built in the 15th century, but was later abandoned. To get there, you can take a train or a tour, or you can hike the grueling Inca Trail, which is a brutal three day hike. However you choose to get there, however, you can’t miss this gorgeous place.

Reykjavik, Iceland

Iceland is so hot right now. I’m not talking about the temperature, because it’s definitely not that kind of hot. The world has woken up to just how incredible a destination Iceland is, and it seems everybody I know is taking turns visiting this incredible place. Just because it’s popular, however, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go. With geothermal hot springs, volcanoes, waterfalls, and some of the most epic landscapes around, Iceland is something that everybody should see with their own eyes if they get the chance.

Angkor Wat, Cambodia

Angkor Wat holds the prestigious title of being the largest religious monument in the world. It is a gorgeous ancient temple complex in Cambodia, and somewhere you should definitely visit at some point in your life if you get the chance to. This world heritage site is definitely high on the list of a lot of travelers, and for good reason. You’ll want to devote at least a half day for exploration.

Queenstown, New Zealand

Adventure awaits! What used to be a mining town has now become one of the top adventure destinations in New Zealand. If you’re into skiing, hiking, bungee jumping, skydiving, river rafting, or just taking in the sights of gorgeous nature, this is one destination you definitely shouldn’t miss.

Bora Bora, French Polynesia

There is something magical about the Pacific Islands. As a huge fan of tropical paradise and living on the West Coast of the United States, I’ve spent a fair bit of time exploring the Pacific region, but Bora Bora is still in my future. Where else can you stay in an overwater bungalow, experience incredible snorkeling, dive with sharks, and wake up to THIS view every single day? I’m enamored with Polynesian culture and Bora Bora is definitely on my list!

South Africa

Africa is such a huge continent that it’s hard to choose where to go when picking a place in Africa to travel to. I’ve pondered this question many times over as Africa is high on my “bucket list” and although I’ll certainly go as many times as I’m able to in my lifetime, you have to start somewhere. I chose South Africa over many other places on the continent just due to the sheer diversity of experiences available all in one country. Visitors can go on safaris and see iconic African animals, of course, but then there is the jewel of a city that is Cape Town. Oh, how Cape Town calls to me with it’s beautiful, iconic Table Mountain and that gorgeous waterfront. Johannesburg is such an interesting city with so much to see and do, and one can’t forget the Winelands (at least this wino can’t forget about it). The great thing about South Africa is that it really does have it all and I can’t wait to see it!

The American Southwest

Living in the American Southwest, I often take for granted the absolutely incredible landscapes that I have available to explore. Sure, I get out and take long weekends from time to time, but I often think of the Southwest as “just a convenient place for a weekend trip” and not really something on par with the “exotic” places elsewhere in the world has to offer. But when I really think about it, we have something incredibly special here, and everybody should take the time to see it in their lifetime if they get the chance. Places I recommend generally lie along the Arizona/Utah border areas as well as some places along the West Coast. You won’t want to miss the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Antelope Canyon, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Arches National Park, Monument Valley, Canyonlands National Park, the Grand Staircase and the Escalante National Monument. On the West Coast, you’ll love Sequoia, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe skiing, the cascades, Mount Rainier, and Crater Lake. If you have time, also check out Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. These are the iconic sights of the American Southwest that have delighted and enchanted visitors for ages. I can say having spent a fair amount of time in my life exploring this region that it really is incredible, on par with any other incredible places I’ve been in the world.

Have you visited any of these places? What was your impression? Any tips for the rest of us? Do you have a dream destination that’s not on this list? I would love to hear about it!
