If you’ve never been on a long-haul flight, I can tell you with authority that they are quite brutal. There’s really nothing quite like spending 10+ hours in the air, nonstop to drain you of all energy and make you forget that there was ever a time in your life when you weren’t tired and smelly from wearing the same clothes for far too long.
A traveler is a person who thinks about traveling all the time. They prioritize travel above other things in their life. They make sacrifices in order to travel. They daydream about travel when they aren’t on the road. They make changes in their lives in order to fit their lives around travel, rather than fitting travel into their lives.
It was a misty, cool afternoon. A fog cast an eerie feel to the medieval streets. In the distance, the faint sounds of a bagpiper performing on a street corner somewhere echoed hauntingly throughout the city streets. There was something enchanting and otherworldly about Edinburgh…about Scotland in general.
One of the coolest things I’ve ever done in my life was to plunge into a cage surrounded by large, toothy sharks on Oahu’s North Shore. Some of you might say, “Awesome! Sign me up!”, whereas others might shy away from the opportunity to come face to face with a 6 foot long shark. I am here to say that this is absolutely something you should do in your lifetime if you get the opportunity to do so.
