A Day Trip Into Germany From Strasbourg

I recently spent some time in Strasbourg, France, in the Alsace region. Strasbourg is right on the border with Germany, and since I had never been to Germany before, the temptation to take a little day trip to check out yet another country was high. Since we had a rental car, we were pretty free to just go explore wherever we wanted. There was some debate on where we should go. Heidelberg was mentioned as an option, but was ultimately vetoed by both of us because it was late in the trip, we were exhausted, and Heidelberg was going to be a long day of driving. Other options were Baden-Baden and Freiberg, but ultimately we decided upon the small village of Gengenbach, which is quite close to Strasbourg.

A Day Trip to Mexico’s Valle de Guadalupe from San Diego

If you live in Southern California, or if you’re going to be visiting the San Diego area sometime in the near future, I highly recommend you schedule at least a day to go South of the border and visit our Mexican neighbors. If you have several days to visit Baja California, there are so many beautiful, relaxing places you can go. A weekend in Ensenada or Rosarito is always a popular choice for surfers and people who like eating tacos and lounging on the beach, but if you’re looking for something a little different, why not check out the Valle de Guadalupe?

Creepy Places to Visit in Paris

Paris is known of the city of lights…the city of love. While it’s true that it’s an amazing, romantic, beautiful place to explore, there’s more than one trick to this pony. Paris is also edgy, hip, full of history, and more. It’s also a place where some pretty creepy things can be found if you look just below the surface. The good news for you lovers of creepy attractions out there, is that there are a lot of these places that the public can actually visit. Yes please!

So, if you’re like me and you’re interested in seeing a little bit of the creepier side to Paris, read on…

What I loved about Strasbourg

Strasbourg is seriously under-rated. Sure, people have heard of it, especially because the European Parliament is in Strasbourg. But, when it comes to France, I hear a lot of Americans talking about Paris, maybe even Nice, Provence, or Lyon even, but I don’t hear them talking too much about Strasbourg…but they should be. This place is awesome.

Things I loved in Paris

But seriously…Paris is amazing. If you’ve never been, you’ll be dazzled by the iconic sights like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Arc De Triomphe. But…there’s something about Paris. It’s the kind of place I could return to again and again and not only ever get bored, but also the kind of place I can return again and again (and again) and find something new and exciting each and every time.

Champagne tour? Yes please!

I definitely recommend this tour when you’re in France if you’ll find yourself in the Champagne region. Even if you’re just staying in Paris, it would be feasible to take the train for the day over to Reims to do this tour, so definitely look into it next time you’re in the area. This was one of the highlights of my entire trip!

Things you should know about driving in France

I was happy to learn that, thankfully, this North American driver was in for roughly similar rules of the road and generally easy driving. Still, there are a few things I found helpful to know ahead of time, and a few things I learned along the way, so I wanted to write up this post for all of you who might be heading to France and hitting the open road. So, without further adieu, here are the things you should know if you’re planning on driving in France…
