So, you’re heading to Los Angeles County for the first time. Or maybe you live in L.A. County. Or maybe you’ve been here before and you’ve been there, done that with all the “standard-issue” L.A. attractions. Walk of Fame? Bo-ring. Hollywood sign? Whatever. You, my friend, are looking for something different…something unique. Something…off the beaten track. Well, look no further, my friend, because this list of interesting Los Angeles County attractions is sure to have something for everybody who is looking for something new and different to do.
I love hiking and tend to hike most weekends. I’m constantly seeking out new trails, and thankfully there are a lot of new trails to discover here in San Diego County! I wanted to take a minute to give you the run-down on some of my favorite trails here in the local area in case you’re planning on visiting San Diego and want to get some time out in nature!
I’m going to toot my own horn for a moment…
I live in an awesome city.
Sometimes I don’t really appreciate it as much as I should, because I get caught up in work and traffic and bills and cleaning the apartment and making sure I’ve bought enough eggs to last through the week, but when I do stop and take the time to look around me, I have to say, San Diego is pretty amazing.
I haven’t always lived in San Diego. I’m an L.A. transplant who, like so many before and after me, gave up the glitz and glamour urban sprawl and crush of humanity for a mellower, more pleasant, more quintessentially “California” experience.
If you’re going to be visiting San Diego, California, chances are that one point or another you’re going to end up in La Jolla. It’s known all over for being a beautiful place with awesome things to see and do, so it’s no wonder tourists and locals alike flock to the little beach community of La Jolla whenever the sun is out (and…this is San Diego, so the sun is usually out). If you’re planning on visiting the area and would like to check this awesome town out, you might be wondering just what to do when you get there. I have a few suggestions…
I wanted to write this post because I’ve seen it time and time again: travelers arriving in my beautiful home state expecting sunny days at the beach and instead being greeted by cloudy, overcast skies and a chill in the air. So what gives? These travelers made the mistake of visiting in May or June.
San Diego is known all over the world as a destination for beautiful scenery and sweeping ocean views. Why not enjoy a leisurely meal while enjoying some of the best sights San Diego has to offer? These restaurants with a view in San Diego are definitely worth checking out.
San Diego is known all over the world as a top destination for surf and sand. Get in on the action at one of the best restaurants with an ocean view in San Diego County!
That being said, I can’t write about all the amazing places to eat my state has to offer in one sitting…that would be a LOT of writing! So, I wanted to narrow it down to my home of Coastal North County San Diego. We’re talking Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside, and the surrounding areas. We get a lot of tourists here, particularly in the summer. If you’re going to be visiting and either need to eat a plant-based diet or just want to try out something new, why not check out one of these vegetarian (and awesome) places?
When a lot of us travel, we like to blend in to our surroundings and not walk around with a big sign over our heads that says, “Hey! I’m a tourist!”
I get it. I do the same thing when I travel. That’s why I wanted to write this little piece about what not to do if you want to blend in while on holiday in the Golden State. This piece is all in good fun, of course. The truth is, we’ve an incredibly diverse state with people from all over the U.S. and indeed all over the world living and working here. Still, there are a few things we born and bred Californians say and do that brands us as locals. Want to do as the locals do? Follow this guide. If not, that’s cool too. Honestly, it doesn’t matter too much and we’ll accept you either way.
If you’re planning on visiting San Diego, there is a lot for you to see and do. From the San Diego Zoo to the fabulous beaches, dining scene, and hiking trails, you won’t be bored while you’re here. But if you’re like me and you enjoy seeing some of the quirkier, unique attractions the area has to offer, you may be interested in this list.
