A Day Trip to Mexico’s Valle de Guadalupe from San Diego

If you live in Southern California, or if you’re going to be visiting the San Diego area sometime in the near future, I highly recommend you schedule at least a day to go South of the border and visit our Mexican neighbors. If you have several days to visit Baja California, there are so many beautiful, relaxing places you can go. A weekend in Ensenada or Rosarito is always a popular choice for surfers and people who like eating tacos and lounging on the beach, but if you’re looking for something a little different, why not check out the Valle de Guadalupe?

My Favorite San Diego Hikes

I love hiking and tend to hike most weekends. I’m constantly seeking out new trails, and thankfully there are a lot of new trails to discover here in San Diego County! I wanted to take a minute to give you the run-down on some of my favorite trails here in the local area in case you’re planning on visiting San Diego and want to get some time out in nature!

On Appreciating San Diego

I’m going to toot my own horn for a moment…

I live in an awesome city.
Sometimes I don’t really appreciate it as much as I should, because I get caught up in work and traffic and bills and cleaning the apartment and making sure I’ve bought enough eggs to last through the week, but when I do stop and take the time to look around me, I have to say, San Diego is pretty amazing.

I haven’t always lived in San Diego. I’m an L.A. transplant who, like so many before and after me, gave up the glitz and glamour urban sprawl and crush of humanity for a mellower, more pleasant, more quintessentially “California” experience.

Spend an Epic Day in La Jolla, California!

If you’re going to be visiting San Diego, California, chances are that one point or another you’re going to end up in La Jolla. It’s known all over for being a beautiful place with awesome things to see and do, so it’s no wonder tourists and locals alike flock to the little beach community of La Jolla whenever the sun is out (and…this is San Diego, so the sun is usually out). If you’re planning on visiting the area and would like to check this awesome town out, you might be wondering just what to do when you get there. I have a few suggestions…

Day trips to Mexico from San Diego

Day and weekend trips to Mexico are a time honored tradition for San Diegans. We love going South of the border to shop, eat, explore, and have wonderful beach weekend trips. Rosarito and Ensenada are especially popular with the surfing community.

If you’re going to be in the area, you might want to add a little excitement to your trip with a side-trip to Mexico. You can go to Ensenada for the weekend if you want to spend some time really relaxing and getting to know the place, but if you only have one day, it’s still definitely worthwhile to head down to Mexico.

Attention, Vegetarians: Try These North County San Diego Restaurants! (Also GF info)

That being said, I can’t write about all the amazing places to eat my state has to offer in one sitting…that would be a LOT of writing! So, I wanted to narrow it down to my home of Coastal North County San Diego. We’re talking Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside, and the surrounding areas. We get a lot of tourists here, particularly in the summer. If you’re going to be visiting and either need to eat a plant-based diet or just want to try out something new, why not check out one of these vegetarian (and awesome) places?
